Have you noticed how the content on many websites is full of corporate gobbledygook that most of us find confusing or even misleading. And the message seems to shout out:
- Hey look how great we are, we’re leading edge
- Look at what we’ve done, we’re blue sky thinkers
- Read about why we’re number one
- Our products and features are great
Gets pretty annoying doesn’t it.
Imagine if web content actually told a story and took visitors on a journey that explained how a company understood the needs of their target audience but not only that, because of this knowledge, they’d introduced solutions to help solve the problems their audience faced.
Now that would be a good start.
But imagine how great it would be if that company then started to post regular blog articles offering tips and problem solving advice.
And then they started to provide free support material and eBooks, white papers, video, screencasts, presentations and podcasts. All of it aimed at offering advice that would help their customers and prospects sleep soundly at night.
Wouldn’t that be fantastic and wouldn’t that audience love that company.
Imagine if that company went a stage further and started to re-purpose and recycle some of that material and promote it across social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube and Vimeo. They tweeted about this information, added slidedecks to Slideshare and answered questions on forums such as Linkedin Answers.
All of this just so that others could discover this exciting and valuable information.
Now why would a company want to do something like that?
Without the hook of great content it’s difficult to engage with an audience. Great content acts like a magnet and pulls people towards your offer and gets them started on the content marketing journey.
Content marketing also helps you rise above the masses by differentiating your offering from your competitors who are still actively interrupting their audience with irrelevant brochureware
Remarkable content, created and published by YOU, aligned to the interests of your audience and their position within the buying cycle and posted where that audience is active, pulls those prospects through to your website.
- More qualified leads
- More sales
- More repeat business
