We all know the story of the electrician’s house with the faulty wiring or the roofer whose own roof is in disrepair. It’s a common problem, being too busy fixing other people’s issues whilst neglecting your own.
I’ve been providing marketing advice to my audience around 3 main areas, to improve the probability of getting their business found online and improving their conversion rates. Marketing advice that I’ve never acted upon myself, until now. These 3 areas are:
1. Nailing your niche
There’s plenty of marketing advice out there that will explain that the road to success starts with being the best in your niche. In order to understand your niche you really need to understand the needs and want of your audience and how your products and services will help solve their problems.
This means ruthlessly cutting marketing content to rapidly get to the point of what you offer and and how you can help. It may also mean dropping some current services if they take you outside your niche and adding new services that are more relevant.
I’ve made several changes to my web content, eliminated pages and introduced new services and packages, I invite you to Take a look
2. Using video to promote your products and services
Many businesses are put off from using video by perceived costs, time and interruptions. But video has many advantages that can elevate your offer above your competition and it doesn’t have to be expensive.
Video definitely helps a business to get found online, it improves the engagement between prospects and that business, people are happy to view, share and like them and research shows they can increase conversion rates.
I’ve added video to my site to verbally explain to my web visitors what I can do to help solve their problems. And it has the added advantage of letting people see who I am, what I look like and introduces the human touch to business.
I won’t win any awards but it’s been well received: Take a look
3. Moving your domain to https://
Https:// provides users and websites with a more secure online experience. It’s been the norm for ecom
merce sites for a while but some of the search engines are pushing users in this direction and Google is providing a ranking benefit for SEO. Google has also gone on record saying they will increase the ranking benefit of https and SEO in the future.
If you’re thinking about implementing this then have a chat with your web developer or hosting company and I’d recommend if you intend launching a new site soon that you default to https:// from the start.
